RESEARCH ON WASTE HEAT EMISSION BY HOME APPLIANCES – CASE STUDY

Abstract

The article presents a test stand and preliminary experiments of household appliances, which was an oven. On the basis of the conducted research, the hottest points of individual walls were selected, where then a microcogeneration system based on TEG was applied and connected with a supercapacitor. The work shows the voltage and current waveforms for a supercapacitor that has been directly connected to the TEG. The main requirements for connection to the battery using a step-up converter are also presented. On the basis of the conducted tests, it was found that the use of TEG is possible in domestic appliances, however due to too low efficiency of thermal energy conversion to electricity is very limited (power output range up to several Watts). It is necessary to use a forced circulation of heat.
