Comparative Analysis of Polish and Brazil Energy Security Risk

AbstractEnergy security represents a key concern in many countries; therefore analyzing comparatively its evolution through thought the years in countries which the energy sector has specific characteristics adds valuable information to the subject. This is the main purpose of this article, to develop a comparative analysis of the energy security performance both in Poland and Brazil. Poland has a prevailing share of coal and lignite as its primary energy source. On the other hand, in Brazil around 41% of the country's primary energy is non-fossil, mainly biomass and hydro. The answer the article aims to respond is: what is the relation between climate policy and the energy security for both countries? To perform the study, information from the Energy Security Risk Index and its sub-indexes were used to analyse the historical behaviour and the possible changes motivated by climate policies. The data was also important to capture a broader view, taking into account also economics and social dimensions.
