Refuse derived fuel as a fuel for CHP plant in a heating plant conditions

Legislation on waste management in our country requires reduction in landfilling. The preferred directions of waste management are material and energy recovery. Quantitative potential of fuels produced from mixed waste is estimated to be from 4.5 to 6 million tons per year . Currently, the only recipients of this type of fuel in Poland are cement plants. Their potential for usage all possible amount of RDF is quite insufficient. Power plants and heat plants should be also part of this system The paper presents the formal conditions, technical and economical construction of a cogeneration unit powered alternative fuel from municipal waste in the conditions of sample heating utilities.
