Gypsum on pottery surface detected by pXRF - alteration, forming or geometry?

Abstract

The application of portable X-ray fluorescence analysis enables a large number of measurements to be made quickly, thus providing new opportunities for multifaceted analysis of ceramic materials, especially of surfaces. In this article the authors outline the results of a model analysis examining the influence of forming techniques, and the type of make-up water used, on the results of chemical composition analysis carried out using the pXRF technique.
