Design Method for High Directivity Couplers

Abstract

This paper describes the design method for high directivity couplers. The couplers consist of two electromagnetically uncoupled transmission lines and lumped capacitors connecting the lines at two points only. The derivation of design formulas is given. The analyzed couplers are related to the known lumped element couplers with capacitive coupling. The comparison of the lumped element coupler with the high directivity coupler leads to a set of exact design formulas.
