MTCA.4 RTM Module for Direct Sampling Based Applications

The DS8VM1 board presented here, is an MTCA.4- based Rear Transition Module (RTM) suited for direct sampling of RF signals within a bandwidth of 5 to 700 MHz. It is a part of a complete set of MTCA.4 boards suited for the RF controls spanning frequencies from 5 MHz to 6 GHz, which is developed and industrialized at DESY. The module consists of 8 feed-through channels, 1 vector mod- ulator channel and a low-noise clock generation and distribution. On board precise temperature sensors and RF power monitoring are included. The board is fully compliant with the DESY analog class recommendation A1.1. It is ideally suited for the low level RF (LLRF) regulation of accelerating cavities with few hundred MHz center frequency. Direct RF signal processing allows to omit the complexity related to the RF signal down-mixing and local oscillator generation. In this paper the concept, design and performance of the DS8VM1 RTM are presented
