Information Theory and Optimization of Analog Feedback Communication Systems
AbstractThe paper is devoted to the analysis of connections between the limit accuracy of transmission and information characteristics for digital communication systems (DCS) and analog feedback CS (AFCS) applied to transmission of signals from analog sources. It is shown that the mean square error (MSE) of transmission determines information characteristics of AFCS. Differences between the capacities of AFCS considered as generalized communication channel and their forward channel are discussed. The new effects appearing in optimal AFCS and in DCS operating near Shannon’s boundary are considered as well. The paper develops the results of the previous author’s research and research in AFCS theory carried out in the years 1950- 1970s.
