Annealing of indium tin oxide (ITO) coated optical fibers for optical and electrochemical sensing purposes

MA-o-8:Indium Tin Oxide (ITO, In2O3-SnO2) is one of the most widely used in optics and electronics optically transparent and electrically conductive metal oxide. ITO has found applications in many different fields, e.g., transparent electrodes for solar cells, gas sensors, liquid crystal displays or touch panels [1]. In this work we investigate optical and electrochemical properties of ITO deposited with reactive magnetron sputtering (RMS) method on optical fibers. Properties of ITO can be easy modified by changing flow rates of O2 or Ar during sputtering, thus it is an effective and useful coating for optical fiber sensors, where its optical properties as well as thickness are crucial parameters for designing numerous kinds of optical sensors [2]. This work presents ITO as a coating for a variety of structures (glass, single- and multimode fibers) applied for opto-electrochemical sensing proposes.
