Eryk Głodziński , Stanisław Marciniak

Project management is fast growing theoretical and empirical field of studies. The paper presents its development considering two mainstreams, related to practice and academia. The business achievements are mainly project management methodologies or other standards. The academia research concentrate mainly on theoretical, methodological, and empirical studies. The issue of knowledge transfer between practice and academia is discussed in the paper. It is pointed out that there are some fields explored simultaneously by practitioners and researchers. However, numerous studies are conducted separately or with very little knowledge or data transfer. The paper suggests the reasons and provides recommendations how to improve the process.
