Test Rigs for Determination of Mechanical Quantities as Examples of Mechatronic Systems

Three examples of test rigs, designed and built at the Warsaw University of Technology, are presented, putting an emphasis on their mechatronic characteristics (and the resulting advantages), yet indicating their specific characteristics at the same time. Interesting technical solutions invented for studying small objects of miniature dimensions are discussed. While designing the test rigs, special requirements related to the mechanical subsystem and the electronic interface had to be met, and custom measurement instruments had to be developed due to their commercial inaccessibility. A description of each test rig is illustrated with the results of example experimental studies completed using the test rigs.
