Abstract
This article is about the application of the neon lamp in oscillator circuit to the measurement of high electrical resistance. It has been found that the relationship between the period of the oscillator and the resistance in the circuit is linear to a high degree of accuracy. This linear relation are applied to the measurement of high resistance, with use of simple phototransistor voltage divider and popular Arduino platform. Thus extremely basic and inexpensive, but relatively obscure electronic circuit can be utilized for high resolution measurements of high resistance, while microcontroller provides necessary calculations, error corrections and PC connection for optional data storage and visualization.
