Selected Aspects of Implementation of the Sustainable Development Strategy in Areas Subject to Erosion. Soil erosion is one of the main factors leading to the degradation of the natural environment. It has a negative effect on both the environment and economy. Natural terrain conditions make economic activity diffi cult, forcing changes in the spatial management, and the application of relevant planistic solutions. Rational shaping of the terrain surface, and the protection of the soil environment against erosion, are issues still neglected in the process of spatial planning in Poland. Modern spatial management must consider the problem of soil protection already at the preliminary stage of planning and development. In relation to the idea of sustainable development, anti-corrosion soil protection, permitting the appropriate use and management of soils, is very signifi cant. Simultaneously, activities conducted in this scope should not lead to a total transformation of the existing valuable structures and landscape values. The objective of this article is to determine the problem and effects of soil erosion in spatial management in the context of the sustainable management of soils. An analysis of the available literature was conducted. The resulting conclusions and guidelines were referred to the study area, located in the village of Kołomań in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. The threat of potential and actual erosion of soils was estimated, and the necessity of introducing changes to their management was determined.
