30. LEADERS AND CLUSTERS IN A SOCIAL IMPACT MODEL OF OPINION FORMATION: THE CASE OF EXTERNAL IMPACT

Abstract

Paradigms of theoretical physics such as synergetic, the master equation, cellular automata, neural networks, dynamical systems, and deterministic chaos have already proved their usefulness in the description of social and economical phenomena [\-4]. The theory of social impact formulated by Latane [5] gave way to a new class of cellular automata models [6-8] that were extensively studied both theoretically and numerically. In [9] we considered a particular case of such model with a strong leader. In this paper, after giving the outline of the model and reminding some results obtained in [9], we discuss in details the effect of external impact.
