Elastic demand in uplift minimizing pricing scheme: the study of non-convex, network constrained energy market
AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to explore how the price-responsive demand could reduce the generation and transmission capacity constraints’ impact when setting the prices. The need for elastic demand inclusion in the uplift minimizing pricing model is clearly explained. The paper shows that it will increase individual customers benefit and satisfaction together with non-convex energy market performance. Numerical results are conducted on a multi-period version of a five-nodes PJM training case and IEEE RTS 24 nodes 24 hours system.
