Modelling and simulation of trams bogies with fully independently rotating wheels

AbstractThe subject of studies described in this article is simulation research on trams’ bogies with fully independent wheels. This kind of solution allows for further lowering of the tram’s floor level. The mathematical model analysed in this paper is treated principally as a multi-body representation of a five car articulated tramway. The different contact forces models are applied depending on relative position of wheel and rail. The adoption of rigid disk as a model of a wheel when the wheel is in its central position has resulted in the Boltzmann-Hamel formalism use for the system description
