Prototype Variable Resistors and Capacitors for RF and Microwave Phase Lock Loops

Abstract

This paper describes the prototype project of lownoise digitally controlled variable resistor and capacitor modules, which can be used to change the transmittance of the PLL filter without resoldering its components. Devices were designed and built as a tool for rapid evaluation and optimisation of ultra low noise PLL circuits, such as those used in particle accelerators.
