Reactions of Acetylenic r-Glycols XXXIV. The Influence of Steric Hindrances on the Closing of a Cyclosulphone Ring

It has been shown that steric hindrances in the allene intermediate (in the formation of chlorocyclosulphones from asymmetric acetylenic r-glycols)have an essential effect on the course of cyclic ring closing. The geminal coupling in CH2 groups of the products has been described. Some structural parameters of chlorocyclosulphones were obtained by the NMR (1H and 13C), IR and X-ray analysis. The possibility of hydrogen bonds between SO2 and CH2 groups have been discussed.
