SVD based GSM reference channel equalization for passive radiolocation

Most of PCL algorithms require clear, non channel- distorted reference signals. However radar systems operate under various environmental circumstances, including dense, multi-path urbanized areas. GSM transmission has built-in mechanism to estimate and overcome multi-path effect. It is good enough for demodulation however not sufficient for PCL applications. The paper presents SVD (Singular Value Decomposition) based method for channel estimation. The method is evaluated and com- pared to Least Squares (LS) approach and structured channel estimation on simulated GSM transmission.
