Simple analysis of FM–AM conversion in single-mode optical fiber

Abstract

We present a simple analytical expression which describes the conversion of a frequency-modulated signal at a transmitter to optical amplitude modulation at a receiver due to fiber chromatic dispersion. The analytical results are compared with numerical results. Comparisons with numerical results give excellent agreement. © 2000 John Wiley \& Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 25: 21–24, 2000.
