X-ray absorption near-edge structure of CuInSe 2 crystals

Abstract

X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectra of CuInSe2 crystals have been measured at the K edges of Cu and Se, the L1 edge of In and the L3 edges of all three elements. The spectra are interpreted using the band structure approach and the self-consistent real-space multiple-scattering approach. Angular momentum projected local densities of one-electron states in the conduction band up to 17 eV above the conduction band minimum have been calculated by the LMTO method. Spectral features in the experimental spectra have been correlated with the structures in the partial densities of states. The contribution of the different atomic states to the conduction band is discussed. The core-hole effect in the XANES spectra of CuInSe2 is evaluated on the basis of the multiple-scattering calculations
