The model of assessment for flexographic printing technology

Abstract

he popularity of flexographic printing in the group of printing manufacture owners is increasing all over the world. The demand of the market for low-cost and repeatable expenditures has pushed companies to look for alternatives of costly printing techniques such as rotogravure or heat-set offset. The main purpose of the article is to present precise characteristics of the flexographic printing technology and to propose a suitable evaluation model. The model takes into account important measures from the flexographic point of view (e.g. type of raw material, colour quantity, printing speed) and also important elements for the enterprise’s strategy (e.g. product quality, financial feasibility). The article was written in a theoretical and research manner. The following research methods and approaches were used: literary criticism, integrated method, holistic approach to assessment, system approach. The research is also based on personal experience of people connected with flexographic printing and data gathered from printing companies. The main result of the paper is the flexographic printing technology assessment model based on a holistic approach to assessment and a paradigm of new economy. The authors present elements not used before for the assessment of the printing technology (e.g. environmental protection) and use the two stages of the assessment (dimension—measure).The developed model may be used in flexographic printing companies and complement literature connected with the research area. The model will help to understand the complexity of the flexographic printing technology and also enable companies to improve the efficiency and quality of flexographic printing.
