Analysis of state variable control of UPFC device in multi-machine power system

An analysis of state variable control of UPFC device in multi-machine power system is presented. In order to determinate the influence of individual state variables on UPFC control efficiency the linear system model has been used. The performed analysis has been focused on damping of electromechanical oscillations. A few cases of UPFC control function modes have been analysed. For each case a detailed analysis of variable states has been performed using the LQR method. The paper presents a summary of analysis carried out on a three-machine power system.
