Wind measurement campaign strategies to reduce wind statistic uncertainty

The study analyzes the influence of wind measurement strategy on the wind statistic uncertainty. The process of uncertainty origination is presented and elaborated separately for the initial stages of wind energy yield assessment. An algorithm for calculating the uncertainty of wind statistics is created on that basis. The algorithm is then used to optimize the measurement campaign for a specific class of sites (onshore, not-complex, homogeneous). A variety of measuring approaches with different masts quantity, height, and campaign duration are examined. An attempt is made to evaluate the relationship between measurement expense and the level of predicted uncertainty. Conclusions are presented at the end of this paper which may be effectively used as guidelines for wind farm developers
