120Gbit/s multi-mode fiber transmission realized with feed forward equalization using 28GHz 850nm VCSELs

Abstract
This work presents a new generation of ultra-wideband VCSELs. They achieve a bandwidth of up to 28GHz with high linearity, enabling error-free 80Gbit/s PAM-4 transmission using 6tap transmit FFE equalization and up to 120Gbit/s PAM-4 with an additional 5tap FFE in the receiver.
