Nonlinear infrared optical measurements of elastic constants in nematic liquid crystal

Abstract

We present an experimental study of molecular reorientation of nematic liquid crystal director axes induced by a CO2 cw laser beam. By observation of the Fréederickz Transition Effect, the elastic constants are determined.
