Effects of Refractive Index on The Bridgman Oxide Crystals Growth Process—Numerical Analysis

AbstractAn effect of different values of refractive index of semitransparent oxide crystal (solid phase) and semitransparent melt (liquid phase) on the solid‐liquid interface shape and location as well as on temperature and flow fields were presented in the paper. The new numerical approach in this kind of simulations was proposed and briefly described. It is based on the front tracking method applied on a fixed grid and on the immersed boundary technique. The model can deal with reflection, refraction or transmission of the thermal radiation at the solid‐liquid interface which might be transparent both specular or diffuse. Several calculations for Bridgman growth process were performed and the solid‐liquid interface shape and location as well as temperature distributions and stream functions in an ampoule for different values of refractive indices were shown.
