Bioenergy from feathers gasification - Efficiency and performance analysis

Abstract

Energy production from fixed-bed gasification of poultry feathers was analysed using process data from a real industry-scale plant located in Olsztyn, Poland. Feathers undergo the two-stage process of gasification in a fixed-bed gasifier followed by burning of the produced gas in a separate combustion chamber. The resulting flue gases generate steam in a boiler. The process is viable in terms of technical parameters, emission standards and profitability.

Abstract in PolishAnalizowano produkcję energii z procesu zgazowania w złożu nieruchomym piór pochodzących od drobiu, wykorzystując dane procesowe z rzeczywistej instalacji przemysłowej w Olsztynie (Polska). Pióra są poddawane dwuetapowemu procesowi zgazowania w zgazowarce ze złożem nieruchomym oraz spalania wyprodukowanego gazu w osobnej komorze spalania. Powstające spaliny wytwarzają parę w kotle. Proces jest opłacalny pod względem parametrów technicznych, standardów emisji oraz dochodowości.
